CoreDB
The Russian twist holding a weight plate instead of a dumbbell — since no dedicated plates are in this gym's equipment list, a substitute using a dumbbell or sand kettlebell held at the chest achieves the identical training effect.

Contraindications
Low back pain when rounded — reduce load and torso angle.Setup
Sit with knees bent, torso leaned back about 45 degrees, holding a weight (dumbbell substituting for a plate) at the chest with both hands.
Execution
- 1Brace the core before rotating
- 2Rotate the weight to one side near the floor beside the hip
- 3Rotate through center to the other side under control
- 4Keep the chest tall and avoid rounding the spine
- 5Continue alternating for the set
Key cues
- Rotate the ribcage, not just swing the arms
- Chest stays tall, no rounding
- Control the weight through the full arc
- Breathe out on each rotation
Common faults
- Swinging with momentum instead of controlled rotation
- Rounding the low back under fatigue
- Weight too heavy, causing form breakdown
- Feet flailing if elevated
Tweaks
- Substitute a dumbbell held vertically for a plate
- Elevate feet for more difficulty
- Slow the tempo for more time under tension
