Contraindications
None significant.Setup
Anchor a band at chest height to your side. Stand in a staggered split stance perpendicular to the anchor, holding the band at the sternum.
Execution
- 1Brace the core and settle into the split stance
- 2Press the band straight out without letting the torso rotate or the stance shift
- 3Return to the chest under control
- 4Keep even weight distribution between the front and back foot
- 5Repeat for reps, then switch the stance and anchor side
Key cues
- Split stance stays quiet, no rocking
- Press straight out, resist the twist
- Even weight through both feet
- Brace before every rep
Common faults
- Torso rotating toward the anchor
- Rocking forward and back in the split stance
- Uneven weight distribution collapsing the stance
- Rushing the tempo
Tweaks
- Add a rotational reach for more difficulty
- Increase band tension
- Perform on an unstable surface for advanced athletes
