Contraindications

Execution
- 1Begin with a few short acceleration steps
- 2Transition into longer, faster strides as speed builds
- 3Keep the body angle slightly less extreme than the heavy push
- 4Drive arms and legs in a coordinated sprint-like pattern
- 5Push for maximal speed over the prescribed distance
Key cues
- Accelerate progressively, don't rush the first step
- Longer, faster strides than the heavy push
- Pump the arms in sync with the legs
- Finish the distance at top speed, not fading
Common faults
- Overstriding immediately instead of building speed progressively
- Losing the sled's connection to the ground (skipping/bouncing)
- Poor arm-leg coordination reducing overall speed
- Loading too heavy, turning this into an accidental heavy push
Tweaks
- Use for speed-endurance intervals (e.g., 8 x 20 yards fast)
- Combine with regular sprint work for a contrast conditioning session
- Time each push to track speed/power output over a training block

WISHLIST EQUIPMENT — Jason does not currently own a sled; included for future programming. Primary energy system: alactic-to-lactic. Light sled sprints are commonly used as a resisted-sprint tool to build acceleration without the injury risk of max-velocity resisted sprints.
