CombatShadow
A classic body-attack combination pattern: two shots to the body followed by a shot upstairs to the head, exploiting the guard drop that naturally happens when a fighter defends the body. Teaches level-change mechanics and target-switching under a single kinetic chain.

Contraindications
Knee sensitivity — moderate the depth of the level change.Setup
Boxing stance; visualize a guard that lowers slightly after body shots.
Execution
- 1Bend the knees and drop the level slightly to throw the first body shot (rear hand to the body)
- 2Follow immediately with a second body shot (lead hook to the body)
- 3Rise back up explosively and snap a punch upstairs to the head
- 4Keep the non-throwing hand glued to the cheek during the body shots
- 5Return to full guard after the head shot
Key cues
- Bend the knees, don't bend at the waist, to reach the body
- Drive up through the legs to transition body-to-head
- Keep chin tucked throughout the whole combo
- Turn the hips fully on the body shots for real power
- Exhale on all three punches
Common faults
- Bending at the waist to reach the body (exposes the back of the head)
- Not rising back up before throwing the head shot
- Dropping the guard hand while working the body
- Arm-punching the body shots instead of using hip drive
- Rushing the transition and losing balance
Tweaks
- Reverse the pattern (head-body-body) to vary rhythm
- Add a slip after the combo
- Perform off both stances
Muscles
Primary: Obliques, Quadriceps, Shoulders
Secondary: Core, Glutes
Notes
This pattern (attack the body to open the head) is a core tenet of pressure boxing and Muay Thai body-attack strategy alike.
