HingeKB
A snatch variation where each rep is initiated from a complete dead stop on the floor rather than a continuous hike-back, emphasizing raw starting-strength and power output over rhythm and momentum.

Contraindications
Same wrist/forearm and shoulder impingement cautions as the standard snatch; additional emphasis on ensuring a fully braced, neutral spine dead-stop hinge given the lack of momentum assistance.Setup
Kettlebell resting fully on the floor between reps. Hinge down fresh for each rep.
Execution
- 1Hinge down to the bell from a static position
- 2Grip and generate power from a true dead stop — no pendulum assist
- 3Drive the hips explosively to snatch the bell overhead
- 4Lock out fully at the top
- 5Lower the bell all the way back to the floor and reset fully before the next rep
Key cues
- No momentum assist — pure starting strength
- Full reset and re-brace every rep
- Same hip-drive mechanics as the continuous snatch
- Quick hips, patient arm
- Full lockout every rep before descending
Common faults
- Using residual momentum instead of a true dead stop
- Rounding the back during the reset
- Rushing the setup between reps
- Muscling the bell up due to lack of a rhythm-based hip load
- Losing brace during the transition
Tweaks
- Use lower rep counts given the higher power demand per rep
- Pair with continuous snatches in a contrast set
- Combine with heavier bells given the reduced fatigue from continuous swinging
Regressions
Muscles
Primary: Gluteus Maximus, Hamstrings, Shoulders
Secondary: Forearms, Core
Notes
Favored for building raw power output since each rep starts from zero momentum, unlike continuous snatch sets.
