HingeKB
A clean initiated from a complete dead stop on the floor for each rep, rather than a continuous hike, building starting strength and reinforcing clean position mechanics without momentum assistance.

Contraindications
Same forearm bruising and general hinge cautions as the standard clean; ensures full re-bracing each rep given the added floor reset.Setup
Kettlebell resting fully on the floor. Hinge down fresh for each rep.
Execution
- 1Hinge down to the bell from a static position
- 2Generate power from a true dead stop to bring the bell to the rack
- 3Tame the arc, keeping the bell close to the body
- 4Finish standing tall with the bell racked
- 5Lower the bell fully back to the floor and reset before the next rep
Key cues
- No pendulum assist — pure starting strength
- Full reset every rep
- Tame the arc on the way up
- Thumb rotates from down to up
- Stand tall at the finish
Common faults
- Relying on leftover momentum instead of a true dead stop
- Rounding the back on the reset
- Bell flipping and banging the wrist
- Rushing the setup between reps
- Losing brace during the transition from floor to rack
Tweaks
- Use as a technical/strength-focused clean variant
- Pair with continuous cleans in a contrast set
- Progress to dead double clean for bilateral loading
