CoreKB
A supine mobility and stability drill from the StrongFirst canon — a kettlebell is held locked out overhead while the body rotates onto its side and back, training thoracic rotation and shoulder stability with the core resisting rotation to keep the bell stacked and locked.

Reps

Contraindications
Shoulder instability overhead — use a very light load or bodyweight first.Setup
Lie on your back with a kettlebell locked out overhead on one side, same-side knee bent for stability.
Execution
- 1Keep the kettlebell arm locked out and vertical throughout the entire drill
- 2Roll onto the opposite side, then continue rotating toward prone while keeping the bell stacked overhead
- 3Use the free arm and legs to control the roll, not the loaded arm
- 4Pause in the rotated position, feeling the thoracic stretch and stability demand
- 5Reverse the roll back to the start under control
Key cues
- Eyes on the kettlebell the entire time
- Arm locked and vertical no matter how the body rotates
- Move slowly, this is a control drill, not a speed drill
- Let the hips and legs drive the roll, not the shoulder
Common faults
- Losing the vertical lockout as the body rotates
- Rushing the roll instead of moving deliberately
- Using the loaded arm to push instead of the free arm and legs
- Taking eyes off the kettlebell
Tweaks
- Use a very light kettlebell or just a shoe when learning the pattern
- Reduce the rotation range as a regression
- Combine with Turkish get-up training for full pattern development
Progressions
Muscles
Primary: Obliques, Shoulders
Secondary: Transverse Abdominis, Glutes
Notes
ANTI-ROTATION with mobility/stability crossover. Direct relative of the Turkish get-up in the StrongFirst canon.
