Same pattern as the KB goblet squat but using a dumbbell held vertically at chest height. Slightly different grip demand than the kettlebell but identical squat mechanics.

Hold one end of a dumbbell vertically with both hands cupped underneath, at chest height.
Execution
- 1Brace the core, elbows tucked close to the ribs
- 2Sit down between the heels
- 3Descend to full depth, knees tracking over toes
- 4Keep the dumbbell close to the chest the whole rep
- 5Drive up to standing

- Keep the weight close to the chest
- Chest up, sit down not back
- Knees track over toes
- Full foot contact throughout
- Squeeze at the top
Common faults
- Dumbbell drifting away from the chest, pulling torso forward
- Rounding the upper back
- Shallow depth
- Heels lifting
- Knee valgus
Tweaks
- Use a heavier dumbbell held vertically vs. horizontally for grip variety
- Add a pause at depth
- Progress to double-dumbbell front squat
