CoreWheelBand
A regression of the ab wheel rollout using a band looped around the wheel and anchored behind to assist the pull-back phase, letting beginners build range of motion and confidence before relying on ab strength alone to return.

Contraindications
None significant; ensure band assistance isn't removing all core engagement.Setup
Loop a resistance band around the ab wheel axle and anchor the other end behind you; kneel and hold the wheel in front of the knees.
Execution
- 1Brace the core before rolling out
- 2Roll the wheel forward as far as control allows
- 3Let the band assist the return pull while still actively engaging the abs
- 4Do not rely entirely on the band — keep actively bracing
- 5Reset the brace between reps
Key cues
- Let the band help, don't let it do all the work
- Still brace hard on the way out
- Control the roll-out just as if unassisted
- Use this to build range, not to avoid effort
Common faults
- Relying completely on the band for the return, going through the motions
- Still sagging at the hips at full extension
- Using a band that is too strong, removing the training effect
- Rushing reps because the band makes it feel easy
Tweaks
- Use a lighter band as strength improves
- Wean off the band entirely once the standard rollout is achievable
- Combine with long-lever plank work for a superset
